Team MILRAM starts in the Intaka Tech World’s View Challenge

German ProTour Team sends ten youngsters to five-part race in South Africa
Dortmund, 30 January 2008. Team MILRAM riders with an average age of 23.5 years will take on the Intaka Tech World’s View Challenge (February 2-7, UCI 1.1) as of this coming Saturday. Directeur Sportif Jochen Hahn will lead ten MILRAM riders, including all seven newcomers, in the five-part race series in the Pietermaritzburg area.
„Our newcomers will start their season in South Africa,“ said team manager Gerry van Gerwen. „We will be concentrating even more in the future on young riders. They will be gathering their first race kilometers under the watchful eye of Jochen Hahn and preparing themselves carefully for the coming season.“
The MILRAM roster will be led by U23 World Champion Peter Velits, who will race in the light blue jersey of his new team for the first time. He will be accompanied by his twin brother Martin Velits (both of Slovakia) and the other newcomers Dominik Roels, Artur Gaek, Christian Kux (all Germany), and Luca Barla (Italy).
The youngsters will be backed up by the veterans Andrey Grivko from the Ukraine as well as German riders Björn Schröder, Sebastian Schwager and Markus Eichler (who last year rode for the ProTour team Unibet.com).
The „Intaka Tech World’s View Challenge” begins on Saturday, February 1, with an opening race of 111,6 km starting and ending in Pietermaritzburg. The South African series, which belongs to the UCI’s Africa Tour, consists of five one-day races which are held on various course in and around Pietermaritzburg, about 65 kilometers northwest of Durban.
